We are so excited to bring you the fifth edition of the WGC Swing Festival (previously WGC Vintage Festival) in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. It’s a really cosy and friendly medium sized event featuring 3 evenings of late social dancing with International DJ’s and 3 Swing Bands, 2 days of workshops with at least 10 international teachers and counting, all in one awesome location! Since our Super Early Bird lines have opened, dancers have booked on from all over Europe and counting! As the last 3 years sold out early, with 200 dancers from 16 countries, we strongly recommend getting your dance partner to balance numbers and booking NOW!
DANCE CLASSES:
Oaklands College, Welwyn Garden City, AL8
Classes will take place in various studios/halls, within the college, plus other studios within 2-5mins walk away. the town centre so that socials, workshops and everything at the WGC Swing Festival will be no more than 2 – 5mins walk away!
LEVELS:
Intermediate You’ve got the core basics under your belt such as The Swing Out, Lindy Turn, Lindy Circle, Charleston, Tandem Charleston, Reverse Charleston, plus basic Jazz steps and are confident social dancing these regularly. It’s time to have some fun taking your social dancing to the next level!
Intermediate/Advanced: In addition to above, you have been taking regular weekly classes and workshops, perhaps at dance camps and you feel comfortable social dancing. As well as core Lindy Hop Lead/Follow skills, you have some experience of solo Jazz, probably Tranky Doo, Big Apple etc and are ready to up your game in terms of more complex moves, technique & styling!
Advanced: In addition to the above, at the highest level in the camp, you’ll likely have years experience of taking advanced workshops or teaching workshops internationally yourself. In addition above, you’ll know most of the classic Jazz steps from all the classic routines, be able to pick up quickly with a good understanding of lead/follow social dance techniques and easily integrate classic jazz into any move. At this level your ready to work your body and brain with key concepts, drills and skills that will take your dancing as far as you’re willing to push it.
NB: Those who have booked for the advanced level may need to audition on Friday evening to confirm a place in this level.
EVENING SOCIAL DANCES:

Friday – Welcome Party
Saturday – JiveSwing Vintage Ball
Sunday – Farewell Party
All 3 evenings are held in the main hall, with live music, international DJ’s, licenced bar and nice wooden floors.
